So proud of his Daddy...

Tim is playing in a baseball league with some guys he used to work with at Element.  Typically their games are pretty late in the evening - and far from home.  But last night, they had a 7:00 game that was pretty close to the house - so I took Carter out to see his Daddy play!  The whole time he kept saying "That's my Daddy!  Go Daddy!  I see Daddy hit the baseball!"  It was SOOOOO adorable.  He was very proud - and very into the game, although we couldn't stay the whole time - because it was waaaaay past his 8:00 bedtime.  Tim did great while we were there though!  Caught some  awesome balls out in center field - including a diving catch that everyone said should have made Sportscenter's Top 10 - and we saw him get a base hit & score a run!  Yay Tigers!

Glued to the fence watching the game!

Wishing Daddy good luck at the plate!

Watching Daddy - #54!  So excited to see him hit!

Watching him warm up...

And finally getting to see him at the plate!

And then walking over to the dugout to tell Daddy congrats on a great game!  And to say goodnight ;)

Easter weekend...

Easter weekend...a wonderful time to celebrate and meditate on what our Lord has done for us. From the torture he endured on the cross...in our place...imparting HIS righteousness to us, though we don't deserve it. To his resurrection and promise of return. We are truly, truly SO thankful for all of this...so grateful for our King...so hopeful in Him and His plan that is so intricately woven and plays out each day. Thank you God! And thank you for some time off of work to rest, and to relax with family :)

On Good Friday, Carter had an Easter party / Easter egg hunt at Primrose. I got to go by for a little while and see him...He is OBSESSED with his Easter eggs. He asks for his little bag of eggs almost every day. So cute...

He decorated his own "Easter bag."

Saturday morning, we went to Home Depot and did a "Kid's Workshop" where Carter got to make his very own bird feeder! He had so much fun...especially painting it. Good grief I was so glad for that cute little orange apron he was wearing!

The finished product, below (we hung it on his bedroom window, so he can see it from his room). One evening last week, when we were out for a jog - I saw a beautiful red cardinal eating from it! I tried to sneak up and take a picture with my phone. But unfortunately Jake was with me - so he scared the bird away :(

We went to church Saturday night and then went out for dinner. Mommy, Daddy, Carter and of course, Simba the Lion (as you can see in most of the pics - he accompanies us almost everywhere these days!).

Easter basket fun on Sunday! Carter got a lot of goodies...A book about Jesus and the meaning of Easter, an A-Z alphabet book, a pack of 5 Cookies Monster books, a Sesame Street coloring book, a talking Buzz Lightyear, an airplane, stickers and some Easter M&Ms.

And of course Gigi couldn't resist sending him some Easter goodies as well! A sweet card, lots of Easter stickers, bubbles, Thomas the Train bubble bath, a Cars egg with candy / stickers, and a Berenstain Bears Easter book (that he loves!)

And on Sunday, we went back to church so Tim and I could serve in the nursery and love on some babies while their parents went to church to hear the good news of the Gospel and to celebrate Easter. We rode the shuttle bus over (from the old church campus - to the new one). Carter is OBSESSED with school buses. (And of course he thinks the shuttle is a school bus as well). So we promised him we'd ride. And boy was he EXCITED!

Later that afternoon, we go to go to DD and Pops house for some family fun and some yummy food! But we forgot to take pics...

Monday I had the day off (a bad weather day for school - that we didn't use - hooray!). So Carter, Simba, Buzz and I got to spend a fun-filled day together :)

We love the Dallas Zoo!

Last Saturday, we took a trip to the Dallas Zoo...for several reasons. Mainly we needed a Saturday trip so Daddy could join in all of our zoo fun! He has never been able to go with us - because of work. So we chose Dallas - a 20 minute drive - instead of an hour to Fort Worth. Plus, we had heard they had made many updates, improvements, etc. and we wanted to see it all for ourselves. It was GREAT! We really, truly loved it. And personally, I will be taking C back as often as he wants to go this summer - no need to drive all the way to Cow Town when you have an awesome zoo so close! I'll explain our fun day as we go...

We began our day with Patrick, the Gorilla (who has two girlfriend gorillas living with him as well - one made a very brief appearance, but Patrick chased her away. The other declined to make an appearance). Oh...my...gosh...as you can see, he was up and about. And VERY close to us (there was an electric fence surrounding the gorilla enclosure). Awesome. But YIKES.

Onto the Lions. Another "oh...my...gosh." We happened to get to their "area" in time for a little display. You can see how close we are to the kings of the jungle. Their trainers were actually having them perform for raw meatballs. That is why one lion is up on the fence...what a beautiful BEAST.

The chimpanzees....adorable as always. There were SO many. They were all over the place....old, young, a tiny little baby (that was so cute - he "danced" when the trainers came out to feed him). And one pretty unhappy guy - who would "yell" and then slam himself up against the viewing glass...hitting, kicking...it was AWESOME. They were so close.

Oh the statues at the Dallas Zoo! They are everywhere...Carter managed to get pics with a lot of them!

The African savanna...BEAUTIFUL. All the animals (with the exception of the "predators") live together. It truly reminded me of how the animals live in Lion King, Madagascar 2, etc. (Yes, we have watched those movies a lot...to say the least). It was so peaceful - and there were so many views of all the animals - so much space. And the giraffes (when they come to their feeding area) are SO close you can touch them, feed them, etc. And (still) they are Carter's favorite animal - so you can imagine how much he loved that.

A petting zoo - hooray! It may only have been goats (with sheep, pigs, chickens, etc. accessible through a fence) but I was thankful there was at least goats! With a 2 year old, petting the animals is one of the thrills of the zoo! At least it was when I was little...

Creepy crocodiles peering out of the water...scary.

Viewing other kinds of monkeys...

A big rhino!

VERY clear glass separting C from these cheetahs...

Sweet boys!

Penguins! They were swimming up by the glass too - so cute.

HAD to ride the Merry-go-round before we left, of course! He picked a zebra to ride on first, then the "big monkey!" (The giraffe was taken - haha!) Although, I must say...after the experience with the monkey hitting the glass earlier in the day - I think they may be his new favorites. If you ask him what happened at the zoo, he tells you "the big monkey ran and hit the glass!" And he loves imitating it. He gets so excited. So they clearly made a bigger impression than the giraffes that day ;)
