Our sweet Emmerson turned 6 months old this week! I can"t believe that half of a year has passed by so quickly...She is truly one of the happiest babies I have ever been around. She is constantly smiling (even when she is exhausted from taking two 15 or 20 minute naps at daycare ALL DAY LONG - yikes!) She laughs a lot now (video below). She has also started making lots of noises - and yells quite a bit. I sit right in front of her a lot and try to get her to say "mama" or "dada" and she just laughs at me like I am hilarious! She is a sitting pro now. She loves to sit and play with all of her toys :) She still enjoys the jumper and exersaucer, but when we're home, she usually just wants to be held by Mommy (which is SO ok with me!). Guess we have to make up for all that missed time while I am at work & she is at daycare. She still loves her oatmeal - and has eaten and enjoyed apples, pears, peaches, bananas, prunes, sweet potatoes, squash and carrots (I think that covers it!). Let's just put it this way, she hasn't turned anything down yet! She sleeps really well at night. Not the 12 hours straight every night like she teased us with a month ago. She goes to bed around 7:30 or so and still wakes up most of the time at 4:30 or 5 for a quick bottle then goes back to sleep for a few hours. But we'll take it! She goes for her checkup this week - I am venturing a guess that she is somewhere between 26 and 27 inches long, and probably weighs somewhere around 22 pounds. These are blind guesses...all I know is she is growing, growing, growing!

Last week, sweet Emmerson turned 7 months old! She is such a sweet, sweet girl. The biggest news of the month is that she started saying "Mama" last Thursday night! I know that she probably has NO clue what she is saying - but that doesn't mean that my heart doesn't melt when I hear it. It is just the best sound in the world! And Carter is so sweet...he always sits in front of her and tries to help her say it. And then he yells and claps and is SO proud when she does. Now he is trying to help her learn to say Carter ;) Other than that, she seems to be super close to crawling and pulling up. She gets on all fours...so as soon as she starts rocking a bit, I know the crawling is coming! For now, she just rolls around to get places - and when she's on her tummy she scoots backwards across the floor. Very resourceful! No news on the eating front - except I am going to start her on Stage 2 foods and maybe even some small finger foods soon. She is still waking up in the middle of the night - not sure if it's habit or hunger, but we're trying to work it out! Mommy and Daddy are TIRED!! Lastly, Carter seems to be Emmerson's favorite entertainment EVER. He can make her laugh SO much - she just stares at him, and looks for him when she can't see him. It is so sweet. And he just loves that attention (shocking, right?!) He is truly so gentle and sweet and supportive and encouraging of her. I pray it continues...because if it does, WOW! This will be one lucky little girl with truly the best big brother in the world! I sure do love these sweet babies!!!
